Senator James Paterson
Senator James Paterson is a Liberal Senator for Victoria, first elected in March 2016 at age 28, making him the youngest Liberal ever elected to the Senate. He holds degrees in Arts and Commerce from the University of Melbourne. Prior to his parliamentary career, Paterson worked as a special adviser to Senator Mitch Fifield and as editor of the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) Review. In the Senate, he has held various shadow ministerial roles, including Shadow Minister for Cyber Security, Countering Foreign Interference, and Home Affairs. As of May 2025, he serves as Shadow Minister for Finance, Public Service, and Government Services.
