Professor Alexandre Lefebvre is a scholar of political theory and philosophy at The University of Sydney, where he also directs the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) program. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, he earned his PhD in intellectual history from Johns Hopkins University in 2007. His research examines how political ideas and institutions shape meaningful ways of life, with a focus on liberalism, human rights, and modern French philosophy. Lefebvre is the author of Liberalism as a Way of Life (Princeton, 2024), Human Rights and the Care of the Self (Duke, 2018), and The Image of Law: Deleuze, Bergson, Spinoza (Stanford, 2008).
